Description

The Corporate Sponsorship Manager is responsible for developing, securing, and managing strategic sponsorship and underwriting partnerships that support both Interlochen Center for the Arts and Interlochen Public Radio. This role drives revenue by cultivating relationships with regional and national businesses, aligning partner brands with Interlochen’s mission to ignite lifelong passion for the arts and deliver trusted journalism and classical music to Northern Michigan. Key responsibilities include generating and closing underwriting sales for IPR, securing sponsorships for the Interlochen Arts Festival, and ensuring timely and effective fulfillment of all sponsor benefits across platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and relationship builder with a passion for mission-driven storytelling, a strategic approach to sales, and a deep understanding of how the arts and media connect communities and create lasting impact.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

– Prospect, cultivate & solicit corporate support from area businesses
Manage current underwriting contracts and sponsorship agreements; negotiate contract amounts and scripts
– Enter underwriting contracts in Salesforce & Allegiance; track status and solicit renewals
– Ensure that IPR underwriting spots are aired, and that sponsorship benefits are delivered
– Ability to master the demands of two database systems and standard office software
– Engage customers and business contacts both in person and on the phone
Reports to Associate Vice President of Philanthropy and works with the other corporate sponsorship manager to maximize revenue for Interlochen and IPR
– Works closely with IPR staff to schedule and record underwriting spots
– Works with IPR staff to develop new digital sponsorship products and opportunities
– Works with ICA marketing to coordinate festival sponsorship benefits
– Works with Business Office to ensure accurate billing External
Participates in regional business gatherings to establish relationships and cultivate prospects

Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree preferred; a minimum of two years’ experience in development, media advertising, or a related sales field (relevant experience will be considered)
– Understanding of and alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Interlochen Center for the Arts and Interlochen Public Radio
– Demonstrated success in client engagement, relationship-building, and influencing others in both corporate and community settings
– Proficiency in setting and negotiating underwriting and digital sponsorship rates, with working knowledge of FCC compliance standards
– Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal—with the ability to effectively engage across multiple platforms (in person, phone, virtual)
– Comfortable using CRM/database systems and standard office software; able to learn and manage multiple platforms
– Well-organized and efficient with strong decision-making skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
– Self-motivated, professional, and committed to delivering results in a mission-driven environment
– Willingness to travel throughout the IPR listening area and represent both IPR and Interlochen Arts Festival sponsorship opportunities
