THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.

The State of California Employment Development Department (EDD) has an exciting career opportunity for a candidate seeking a position as a permanent/intermittent, Program Technician (PT) II, in EDD's Tax Branch, Field Audit and Compliance Division, Compliance Development Operations, Complex Case Group. If you are interested in learning how to make a difference in combating the underground economy and making a difference in fraud prevention and detection, then this is the place for you! This position may also be filled as a permanent/intermittent Program Technician for recruitment purposes.

Under supervision of the Tax Administrator I, the PT II learns how to process allegations, develop leads and skip tracing skills, provide consistently excellent customer service, and build knowledge of ACES. The PT II provides direct support to the general public, outside agencies, and fellow EDD employees. The PT II will also perform routine support duties which include phone coverage, and maintaining forms and supplies for the office.

Duties will be adjusted as appropriate if the position is filled at the entry level PT classification.

The position is headquartered in Sacramento, CA and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in Accounting and Compliance Enterprise System or similar .
  • Knowledge of current investigative techniques.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Possesses a detail-oriented, comprehensive approach to assignments.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Observes and protects the confidentiality of materials and matters.
  • Knowledge of modern office methods and equipment, including experience with personal computers utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point. Etc.
