Job Description

High Voltage is seeking a talented Senior Technical Game Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you'll use your expertise in design tools, experience, and excellent sense of scale to enhance the quality of our projects and deliver fresh experiences that captivate players. Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Designing captivating experiences that push the boundaries and deliver innovative gameplay.
  • Leading the implementation of significant gameplay components from beginning to end, using skills such as Blueprint Scripting, Replication, Sequences, and Replays.
  • Collaborating closely with design leaders to develop and refine engaging gameplay experiences.
  • Employing Unreal Blueprint to execute in-game content.
  • Being the go-to person for complex content implementation that challenges current systems or requires significant input from artists, designers, and engineers.
  • Iterating, polishing, and balancing gameplay mechanics and systems.
  • Advocating for an immersive player experience and crafting compelling user stories.
  • Testing and validating your work on target hardware.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of game design experience, with a minimum of one shipped game.
  • Proven ability to create functional prototypes.
  • Proficiency with visual scripting languages, particularly UE Blueprints.
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking skills with an in-depth knowledge of gameplay mechanics and how to create engaging experiences for players.
  • Knowledge of UE Sequencer.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in identifying design and technical issues, with a willingness to seek assistance when necessary.
  • Technically skilled and capable of working independently in a small team environment as part of a larger team.
  • Experience working on multiplayer games
  • Experience with the 3 C's: Combat, Camera, and Character.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others.
  • Passion for video games.

Bonus points:

  • Experience with C++/C#.
  • A diverse skill set is advantageous! As a small team, we value cross-disciplinary skills.
  • Familiarity with network replication.

Salary $70,000-$90,000 USD yearly

* High Voltage Software provides the option to work remotely from home for all positions. However, employment eligibility for any position is limited to individuals residing in Illinois, Louisiana, Indiana, or New York. Therefore, if you do not currently reside in one of the aforementioned states, relocation will be necessary to join our team.
